17" Moab wheels too big?
Hey guys,
I just found a sick deal on 17" Moabs, and was wondering if thats too large to be used offroad with 31s. I'd onl be doing beginner stuff for the most part, but i'd like to keep the wheel for awhile and just use a bigger tire.

A 31" tire on a 17" wheel is a little less sidewall than I would prefer. But it really depends on how you are going to be wheeling your Jeep. If you are going to be airing down into single digits and doing some hardcore rock-crawling, than yes a 17" rim is too big for that size tire. But you're only running 31's so I assume you're doing some less technical stuff than that. Don't get crazy low on your air pressure and you'll be fine. Plus, Moabs are sexy as hell.

Just the stock Bridgestone ATs, and the tread is 12/32 of an inches, which is only two less than stock(according to the ad). But for the price i cant beat it, its the 5x5 bolt pattern, but a spacer fixes that easily so im not worried.

Just make sure they are from a 97-06 Wrangler because the Jk's wheels are 5on 5 bolt pattern where th xj and tj are 5 on 4 and a half

Thats the thing, they are from an 07, so i'd need an adapator.
Would this cause it to be too wide or anything, i plan on getting larger flares, but dont want to have it look ridiculous.

can be done with spacers, but yeah, they will stick the tires out about 1.75-2", depending on what brand you get. spidertrax makes about the best set. stock bs on those rims would be in the area of about 5.5 inch. so with the spacers will bring them out to about 3.5 to about 3.75. so you would be fine.
but you'll need about 3.5 to 4.5 inches of lift to fit the 32's.

And i wouldnt be putting them on right away, they'd go on at the end of the summer when i get the time/money to put a 3.5 inch lift on it.
