So my jeep just cracked the 140,000 mile mark and i got a tuneup on it. The shop i went to also diagnosed my CEL. I knew it was a cylinder 3 misfire but i didnt know it needed a valve job to resolve it. That job is way out of my price range so i was wondering if you guys think i should still lift it in the summer even with it needing a valve job. Also i just picked up a bottle of seafoam and just making sure i should put half the bottle in the gas tank with a full tank?

Yeah, do half in the gas tank, and half in the brake booster line.
A lot of people also do 1/3's and put 1/3 in the oil for a couple hundred miles and change it.
Did the guy say what is wrong with the valves? What is he going to fix? Sticking valve? floating valve? etc?
Sometimes you can put some additive in your oil that can sometimes help valve issues and fix the problem.
How much did they quote you?

Do a wet and dry compression test before pulling the head off. And being that it's a 2000 4.0, you may need a head anyway.

Thanks for the help guys. I believe the mechanic said it was a floating valve but not 100 percent sure if i remember that right
He quoted me in the price range of $1200. The jeep runs fine and the CEL is off now. The only time the CEL comes back on is the truck is around 210, go in a store for 10 min and come back out and turn it on. Its the heatsoak that messes things up. But otherwise it runs fine, no backfiring, stumbling, loss of power
