ive always been a fan of the alpine type r stuff. so if i go with a 12 it will prolly be the Alpine SWR-12D4(http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SWR1...D4.html?tp=111) its rated at 300-1,000 watts rms. i would be powering it with this amp Alpine MRX-M110(http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500MRXM....html?tp=35834) i dont plan to purchase through crutchfeild just showing you what im looking at. the alpine type r 10 is also rated at 300-1000 watts max. what do you think? im open to suggestions for different brands to but i want quality

I'm running a kicker L5 12 inch with a 1200 watt pioneer amp. It rattles hard but still sounds decent. It's in a huge ported box. If i were to do it again I would get a 10 inch just to save space and my ears. Bass gets old.

Go with 10s. I have two 10in Polk audio dxi's in a closed box. Powered by a 1200 watt amp and an Alpine deck. Bumps real nice. I've even set off car alarms in parking lots. Haha. Had it for about a year and love it. Of course I'm sure there's something better. Lol.

I have a JL10w3 in a cubby box, it hits nice and clean I wanted to keep the space. I also wanted to run a small system on a 5 channel amp (genesis profile under the rear seat ftw)

I have 2 JL8w7's in my Maxima, put it in the xj for *****s and giggles. 30 mins later took it out, i didnt wanna go DEAF. Damn xj is like a box in a box

fyi, w7's too deep for a cubby box.

I would only do a 12' sub if i was running ONE and it was in a trunk of a car. Other then that the quality and power handling of higher end subs you can really get away with one.

Dont get me wrong Im not married to JL, theres equal quality for less $$ but for me it just the brand of choice. $500 for a pair of 8's can be to tough sell.

YES!!!

not a great difference in a single 10 vs a single 12, but BIGGER IS BIGGER and the 12 will get a lill lower..

Now if your talking 2 subs, thats where the 12 will start to walk the 10 they just push more air. Theres no replacement for displacement.

bigger subs need bigger power, JL10w7 will handle 500rms, thats alot of juice. RMS is the key

unless someone is GIVING you 12's stick with the 10's
