Default 1 Ton UTK from Junkyard parts?

I see the kit JCR sells. Looks good. I assume it is based on a GM setup. Has anyone cut down the GM setup to fit an XJ? I found zero info on such an endeavor. Will do some research next time I run out to the junkyard. In the meantime, anyone with experience?

I guess you never seen a stock gm steering set up it won't work.It has one long arm knuckle to knuckle and a super short arm from the steering box to the top of the drivers knuckle that steers it.A ford solid axle is close but it uses the wrong tie rod ends and the oem links are hollow and just as crappy as what you got.Only budget steering swap i know of its the zj v8 which you can buy at a parts store around 100 bucks and everything is new.

I was thinking of cutting the GM one down. If I could cut and rethread, that would be cool. If not that, then cut the ends off and weld to new pipe. No one has gone down that path? Sounds simple enough.

in the end. It might cost the same. There's a reason why nobody ever do it.
