I'm thinking I'll just go crossover for the flattest angled drag link possible. then when I ditch these stinkin coil springs I'll be able to build a nice long flat panhard to match the drag link

Drag link? No you mean full hydro and ORI's. Go ahead and order them, they take a while.

I was just doing my steering links last night. I usually have to do it in 4 welds to get all the way around. 3 if I'm lucky. I don't think mine came out quite as shiny as yours

I have messed up one tube insert by burning it together too hot and then the joint wouldn't thread in. Any tips to avoid that? Normally I just do 1/3 then let it cool and move to another piece of tube. I hear those ruffstuff hex inserts are better though.

do u have a tap to clean up the threads?

I had no problems with welding the inserts all way around with nothing happening to the threads.

no tips. I only use ruffstuff (because they are conveniently located near me) and I've never had a problem with welding them in too hot or having a joint not thread back in. I weld it all at once without letting it cool

Who knows. No, I don't have a 3/4" tap. Plus this was a while ago on one I did for someone.

Turn the gas up on the regulator. The additional gas will cool the weld quicker. Also, you can try moving the puddle faster
