welder question
you think a flux core will be good enough to weld up a rear bumper, a buddy of mine used to be a welder and is gonna help me with it, so the welds will be great.

As long as you get good penetration you should be good. I use a 110volt flux core for on site final fab on handrail now and then rather than drag leads thru clean areas.

I have a spool of flux core wire for the odd occasion when I may run out of gas. It seems to penetrate almost as good as the straight wire but is a little more time consuming about cleanup. The cleaner the welded surface is before you begin seems more critical with flux core wire.

Im a welder by trade. IMHO that welder you have shown is good for exhaust work and thats about it. I use a hobart handler 140 on my barge and i multipass pretty much everything. I've welded half in steel with it and its been fine. The flux core wire does penetrate deep but weld cleaning is very important. It does not like welding over its own slag. The welds are not exactly the pertiest either with flux core due to alot of spatter. Good luck !

i had a buddy of mine that used to do underground and overhead and all kinds of crazy welding before he joined the army come over and do it and he did three pass on everything so im sure that the welds will be good but i guess i wont find out for sure till i get a good pull on it, and if it breads then then i guess ill figure it out from there lol, but the welds looked pretty good and we cleaned them up so im confident that itll hold, plus its tied in to the "frame" pretty well, so i dont see any problems in the future.
