Newer Dodge are driver drop but use unit bearings and a lot have CAD.

Wish I knew why so many people "insist" that a LP44 is as "weak" as a D30.

It's still a stronger housing. It still has the better balljoint design. It still has more splines inside the carrier. It still has bigger brakes and true lockouts. And despite having the same ujoint (297/760) .... it's IMO, slightly stronger because the D44 axleshaft assembly is only transferring torque. The spindle has the job of supporting the vehicle. The unit bearing D30 requires the shaft to keep the assembly together, and as such not only carries weight, but transfers the torque.

The Waggy 44 is 1 inch wider ... which translates to 1/2 inch per side. However, these axles use a standard offset rim --- which will automatically add width to the vehicle's track.

The older Dodge D44s have a funky pattern for the spindle that isn't easily swapped. And some of them are unit bearings too (despite being an "old school" axle).

If you get an older waggy ... just make sure it doesn't have the CAD (center axle disconnect). If it has it .... walk away.

I see you put your 44 up for sale!

That mean you got the 44s?

I think I'm about to pick up some to build over spring and summer. Let me know if you find a weld on kit. That'd be great haha.
