Default Tow hitch question

I own a 2000 xj sport 4x4 and wanted to get a tow package so I can tow a trailer for my 1500 mile move to Colorado from Cali in January. My step dad has the old hitch from his 2005 GMC 3/4 ton pick-up that's in great condition. He upgraded to a beefier system to tow his horse trailer.

Can I install his old hitch onto my jeep?

Thanks! In not sure which class hitch it is. Tho I'm assuming it's a 2 or 3.

You might be able to rig it so it works, Id call a Uhaul and see what they say. There might be a big difference between one built for a Jeep and the one you have.

if you cant figure it out on your own.....i wouldnt recommend trying it. if you mess anything up, the result could be someone dead or seriously injured

Find a u pull it junkyard and get a Cherokee specific hitch. I got two of them (one a class 2 the other a class 3) each for under $20.

Get the nutstrip for the drivers side

Or

If you are going to be pulling a trailer that far and on hills. Make sure to plumb in a external transmission cooler.

You can grab an early 90's plate style cooler from an explorer while you are at the junkyard and it will install very easily in your xj...

Best of luck
