Im working on building a set without the angle. also not putting any holes or lights on the side. just a flush mount like TJ's. running a brake/stop/turn lamp on top and reverse on bottom.

these look good...but im not feelin the angle. kind of out of place imo....but thats what makes everyone different.

Quote: Well mine are not metal tail light housings but I’m building these for greater visibility for Search and Rescue. I wanted to keep the OME look but increase my visibility and be able to hook up my strobes to the amber half of the light. These are very bright! I got the idea looking on EBay for LED xj tail lights and nothing. Then I measured the light housing and 4” square is what I came up with. So I found 4” square LED fender post mount for a semi. I’m in the middle of cutting and mounting them into the old housings now.

Those led tail lights look awesome! Good job!

I wasn't trying to offend you I just don't have much money. You have a very good price and all but if I had a better job and didn't go to college full-time I would rather buy a set then try to make em. But I love the layout of em. I can't wait to see what they look like all done!

your price includes the lights? if so that isnt a terrible price. ive seen them at this price-ish for just the housing.

does NOT include lights but if wanted ill buy and put them in for just the price of lights extra, depending on what i find for reverse lights tomorrow the housing and lights should be $140ish on what i have seen for light prices

Quote: Yes I could, and I incorporated the angles to give a better area of light for backing up at night, and as far this setup I'm the only one with them they are an original design.
1 question, 1 comment:
Angling the reverse light down ... would that be legal (pass inspection)? I understand that it would be better for reversing, but more importantly, will the light show sufficiently to a vehicle behind you?

Original design: if it works out (see above) ya might wanna slap a patent on it. You know how things get copied in this environment. Next thing you know someone will be selling your idea. Seen it happen right here on CF ...

Im curious how you wired the tail lights in, did you wire them in to only run tail/brake or did you wire them in to work tail/brake/turn.. When i fab'd up my tail light boxes, i couldnt ever get my led's to work all 3, even through a converter.
