if your gonna do all the work to make new steering links, why not upgrade the TREs while your at it?
anyways, you need to know the thread count/pitch of the TRE in order to get the tube adapters.

I have found that 1.25x.375 wall DOM is about the best material for steering until you get into monster trucks and you go to 1.5x.50 wall. either way if you have the capacity to drill and tap these that is the strongest and cleanest. other wise a 1.5x250 wall is very stout, its easy to get tube adapters for and the ES2847R and ES2848L Rod ends use a 3/4 16 tpi thread and will directly bolt into factory size tapers. I have about 100 jams nuts R+l in stock if you need a few Ill hook you up. I have built about a million steering arms and would be more than happy to talk to ya about it if you wanna call me. I always like to see what guys end up with when they build their own set ups.
Either way my best advice is to stay away from heim joints in steering
