I used 1" square tubing that's 1/8" thick. It's going to be heavy, but I want to be able to use it to put stuff up there, and i mean a lot of stuff. me and my buddies are actually thinking of strapping a dirtbike up there so we don't have to put it on the trailer and save room. basically I'll be hauling 2 ATVS, a 250cc Dirtbike, and a 80cc dirtbike on the roof along with riding gear and such. think I'll be good cause there's another build on here and he put 2250 lbs on his rack no problem.

Mounted my hi lift on my rack. Wrecked my 97 and got a new 95 same color. Rack still fits! Cost me 5 dollars to mount a free jack.

Looks great man! I have similar one I just finished this weekend. Just gotta figure out a way to attach my hi-lift, shovel, and figure out what I'm going to do with the lights.

I used 1x1 .095 wall and I can walk around inside it and jump up and down and it doesn't even care.

After I applied a finish to it.

The idea with the 45* in the front is the house the lights behind the metal so they don't get ripped off by limbs and what not.

Nice job! Looks great. I like the expanded steel in the bottom. Nice for tying small stuff up top.

I never did weigh it but its maybe 20-30 pounds. Its Pretty thin tube but plenty strong. It's pretty easy to pick up, but need another person to get it on the roof without scratching paint

Has anyone seen weldable mounts that go inside the factory roof rack track?

Mine weighed in at probably 70lbs fully finished, but the expanded metal itself was close to another 10 lbs.

I'd make them to order but but shipping would be crazy I'm sure. Figure i'm into it about 150$ and I would sell them locally for about 500.

The only weld able mounts I can think of go to the rain gutter, from JCRoffroad. They are awesome and I would do those if you don't feel like being creative

Looks good finished!

And Slimgoatythe rack may not care but those gutter mounts will....If youre going to put stuff like that up there I would try and figure out a new way to mount it other than what you have on there right now.

Yea, I was thinking about adding some feet to it that sit right above the roof supports. I've heard of lots of guys putting lots of weight up there, and only actually seen one gutter blowout, but it'd a good idea to build on the safe side.

Im looking to make a rack similar to yours, maybe alittle longer with a built in lightbar and a spare tire mount. I was wondering though how high you made yours, like how long are your inside supports between the top and bottom rails of the rack

My little risers are 3" tall. I cut like 20 pieces at 3" and tacked them all in place. This makes the entire rack 5" tall. Perfect height in my opinion
