Did the same thing to mine. I love it!I went through a couple alternators due to water damage and made this thing up with some sheet metal laying around and it works like a charm.

I would like to make a guard to cover the whole front half of the engine compartment.... I haven't taken a good look at that though, so I guess that will be another project and another thread!

The stock splash guard protects the engine, belts, alternator and more. $32
Add a front skid for more protection

Mine didn't have one when I bought it, and I always figured it would be a pain to do anything on the underside if my jeep if I had one

The splash guard is held in place by removable clips. Easy to remove if needed.

I'll stick to mine, it's a bit sturdier and doesn't need to be removed unless my alternator needs replaced

Good job. Seems to work well. I'm gonna try using 1/8" aluminum sheet to make mine.

CSE Offroad, almost 2 years ago.
Part #55174736 splash shield.
One can be made if you can find an appropriate material.
...From XJtalk.com "I ended up using what is called a "Blanket" used by lineman to throw over the powerlines as a insulator while they are working by the lines. you can go to almost any utility or co-op and ask for a defected one. they have tons that they trow away because of small tears or burn holes.
