Default rotted floors

Well with winter creeping up along with inspection I decided get started on my floors.

I was surprised, I thought it was going to be a lot worse. I went to a metal shop and picked up a 4x8 sheet of 16g cold rolled for $60

This is the new floor laid out in place. I do not have a welder so I have to wait until my neighbor is off of work on Sat. or Sun. to weld it all in.

Very nice! I've got a build thread going for my '87, I'm doing the front half of the truck, though. Not as large of a solid piece, but still tons of work.

You said you don't have a welder, I don't either. Harbor Freight has sales going all the time on them, and you can get a nice wire feed welder for less than $150. I think the one near me is having a sale in the next week or two, putting them at $110. The nice thing, they don't use enough power to require an outlet any more powerful than your standard wall outlet, and its plenty powerful to weld floors, exhausts, etc.

Oh, do you plan on painting the metal, or doing a clear or something? My truck is red, has red interior pans, but I'm painting the truck black. I'm having trouble deciding what color to go with for the new metal.

Well I am in the process of doing the floors up front too. But this is my family's only vehicle because my wife's EXPLODER took a ****. So its going to take me some time. And I am going to use Herculiner on the cargo area, and put the carpet back in up front for the time being then that will get herculined next spring

Ah, gotcha. I'll end up just using spray paint, mine is a "wheeling only" truck. I'm using it as a DD this winter if I get everything done, though.

I need to do rears on mine, lol, so we're doing opposites!

I'm lucky with my fleet. Between the fiance and me we've got 3 trucks and a motorcycle. Only 2 can be used at one.

Looks like you got some work cut out for you; I definitely want to see how you go about replacing the whole floor- I may have to do the same in a few years if I'm not careful
