Am I missing something or would I be able to take a crescent wrench to those 2 nuts and have me a shovel and a sledge?

Just saying something to think about.

Well Its not 100% theif proof but i park in a well populated area and I doubt anyone is really going to go after them its just a hassle to remove all the bolts. Its more spur of the moment theft prevention. best I can do with what I got bro.

Great Job and Great Idea with that; Im also new to the forum but try to do my fare share of fab work around the house. Im pretty cheap and dont like spending moola. Just my two cents on your build and on the comment by Miller. I agree with him on the removal of the bolts. However, if your ever out and about, I recommend to stop by a Midas Muffler shop or a metal fab shop and ask them to place a couple of tac welds on those bolts. They may even do it for free if they are no very busy. If not Im sure a few bucks their way may not hurt.

Seems like an aweful lot of work to access a shovel and a hammer?

Maybe I missed something but what exactly do you intend to do with the shovel and hammer?

just make more room for other stuff in the back and I like the way it looks and it really was not that hard to do so....

take a key unlock a lock and you have access to your tools. Same as taking your car key and unlocking the hatch.

Only difference is a different location. plus as mentioned it does make room for other things.

As for the bolts I like "spur of the moment theft prevention” and I guess if you ever lost your key on the trail you could get to them if needed.

Either way good job on your storage rack.

I dont even lock my doors most the time, must be all that good Karma that keeps my stuff safe!

That being said, your mounts look good, awesome in their simplicity!
