This is my first post here so and comments suggestions are appreciated.

So I had some tools rolling around the back of my Cherokee and a bare roof rack so i put together a locking(I live in a college town… lot of sticky fingers around here) shovel and sledge hammer rack/holder. Very simple and cheap only cost $15 to make and it is super sturdy. Which is way better than a name brand one like warrior for $70 that doesn’t even lock?

1-3/8" Turnbuckle $4.49
2-1/2" U-Bolts $1.99
3-3/8" 3" bolts w/nuts $0.33
8-3/8" nuts $0.12
4-3/8" plastic end caps $1.99
Blue Loctite
Drill with 3/8" bit and 1/2" bit
Wrenches
Some simple drilling and measuring I came up with this...
Sorry for the dark rainy pictures…

this is a garbage shovel... no offense miller... they all break with at the coupler... you pay 5.99 for a tool and you will get $5 worth of use out it,,,ive broke more shovels and spades than 80% of the whole forum... the best tools you can buy are old garage sales, ridged makes a decent tool tho

I beg to differ I have had this shovel for more than a year and ive used it for just about everything (rocks/mud/roots) and it still looks and works good as new.

I understand both sides, and I have a cheap fiberglass shovel on my roof rack. The reasoning? For all the times i will use it (not often at all) i don't wanna spend money on a nice wooden shovel, and the cheap ones arent really protected, and with it in the rain, I figured the fiberglass would be less likely to rot before i use mine. lol.

Looks good, nice way to clamp her down. I use basic Hose Clamps for now. Had em. lol
