I wanted a roof rack which would be strong enough to carry lumbar and easy for 1 person to remove and store in a minimal amount of space.
So I built these heavy duty mounts and used steel pipe which I welded with a MIG for solid strength.

I like the ability to remove and install in minutes.
the mounts clear the doors and install quick with 1 nut each.

 

Depending on how much weight you put up there you may want to put another cross bar or two up there. I have no idea how much the rain gutter can hold over a given length. Otherwise they look good and functional.
