instead of gutter mounts how about going thru the roof and use a plate on the inside? in essence sandwhiching the roof with 2 plates? have seen this done and when the guy rolled it, slowly I might add it did no damage at all except wipe out his aux lights that were mounted on the rack.

Line I posted I went to make a basket front bed frames. I can put plates inside the jeep and weld them no problem. Just looking for tips from those that have done it. I'm making a rotater for the lights so they face forward and be able to go to a 180 degree plane so if I need to see on either side I can operate from inside the jeep. Most likely I will use window motor and fashion a gear for the lights. I have done this before on a few rov I built in college

The only problem with doing the plate thing is say you want to make something different.. or go a different route, or get a new cherokee. It is not as easy to transfer. Nor is it near as strong since it is jsut to 16ga sheet metal and not to a body seam

any of you guys running a roof rack with a sunroof cause im not sure if i can buy one or fab one up without having any problems. Sorry for the thread hi- jack.

No worries, engine kept dyin out on.me some bad electrical problem so cashed in on presidents day sale guaranteed $4000 trade in and got me a real low mileage Tj 5 speed
