hey how did you get the corners not to crimp or crumble when you bent the 1 in sq tubing

 

That is literally perfect! i think it sits evenly on top, well from what it looks like. How is your spare mounted? i forgot to catch where you were located, but id be more than interested in purchasing one from you if possible.

 

I am from north eastern az. Im looking into shipping today then this week I might try to buy the materials to build another one to sell.

cmon now lets be serious, thats probably how much he paid for materials. and even if you didnt include materials he would only be making $7.50 an hour. you could flip burgers for more than that

I found the $100-150 comment humorous aswell! So I looked into shipping today and for the size and wieght of the roof rack it would be redonkulous to ship it any where since i would have to send it frieght.

 

I bent the tubing with a six thousand dollar hydraulic tubing bender.

 

I guess that would do it hahaha luckly my bro has access to one of them!

 

how thick is the metal the tubing is made of?

 

For most of it I used 16g 1x1 and 1x2 tubing, but for the crossmembers that are holding the wieght and where the raingutter mounts are attached to i used a little bit thicker 1x2 tubing. I used some 2" x3/16 strap for the gutter mounts.

 

dude that is one of the best looking DIY roof racks i have ever seen, if you dont mind sending me some dimentions i would be very grateful! also did you bend the back part yourself or did you buy links or something like that? and i know this is alot but how did you get it to mount? it looks like it is mounted to the gutters but what did you use?
