nope not a sales man. but have used it a bunch with UTV's and it has proven tuff. and you use it every day in cutting boards. the nice part about it is that is "slippery" the chemical composition makes it act like its slick. so when you get hung on rocks and things you slide of with less friction. thats why i would put metal plating behind it, and then put the UHMW as a wear surface that doesnt rust or scratch up. so it always looks good, you just hang it with screws and washer counter sunk.
you can make the holes over sized a little to allow some "flextion" plus the material its self if semi flexible. has some give to it i dont know droping a 4k cherokee on it works but droping a 15oo pound rhino and 4 people on a 3/8 skid holds up. heck the rhino somes with a 1/4 ish skid plate stock. so a 3/8 was a upgrade.

So I will probably use that, except weight is an issue.
The UHMW would be too weak with the spans we are talking about.
My Jeep is heavy 5.5K at least.
I could do the plate and thinner sheets of UHMW over them, but then again more weight.
We will have to see how it plays out.

Sheet metal weded to top of 2x6, need to fill some gaps and grind welds clean.

looking good. and ya i dont think UHMW by its self would work but with metal behind it? not sure but the experiwnce i have had so far sounds promising. in the second picture up. is the brace going to the subframe welded straight tot he subframe or is it attached to the stiffiner first? and with the braces going through the floor will it effect the mounting of factory seats? i really like this, nice work.

( 60" along top, 60" along back, 12" each end and 12" x 4 braces )
Looks no different from when it was tacked in, but 12 Hours of welding.
Rattle canned it for the cruise night.
Here is a pic in front of the W P Chrysler Museum on Cruise night.

Need to do plating and decide if I want a rub bar welded on the outside of the 2x6 ?

Had fun at the cruise.
It was a bad day though.
Spat out the R U-joint on the way to work in the morning.
Destroyed the outer shaft.
Had to drive 1.5 hours to only place in MI that had a shaft.
New shaft and U-Joints $ 140.
Went to replace shaft and joints only to find Hubs are shot and Tie Rod is shot, Caps fell out of the outer shaft on the L side = shot.
So $ 430 later I have a new front end.
Now if the temps would drop below 90 + I can install everything.
JEEP = Just Empty Every Pocket.
These bigger tires and wheels really eat parts.

I really want to do this to my jeep but am wondering exactly what to cut out. Do I just cut to the pinch seam underneeth and what in the door opening?

what size wire did you use to weld everything together? Im wanting to do the same to mine, and just wondering if .035 wire would work on the thin body sheet metal.
