I scored this tire carrier at the local u-pull-it, for $50.

I have the swingarm and tire mount, the bump slide, and the receiver pin, from a ~98 Pathfinder??

The corner mounts were flush mounted on the top and bottom of the tail light area of the quarter panel. I already held it up to my Jeep, and the brackets are perfectly spaced.

My problem is that the corner of the quarter panel(Pathfinder) is a smaller/tighter angle than on my ZJ.
Sorry. Couldnt hold the ~70lb tire carrier, and take a pic at the same time.

I'm planning a homebrewed rear bumper, and thought I could Fab a custom lower mount, raised from the bumper and the upper mount bolted with the existing/custom corner bracket above the tail light.

Question is should i fill the gap with a custom spacer at the top mount, or a custom mount? and what should I do for support behind it? Maybe just some thick steel backplate to bolt through, behind the Quarter panel sheet metal.
