you may want to look at the backbone system for inspiration because the stock rear bumper by itself most likely wont support a heavy tire carrier and tire

Ok, well this was kinda a quick drawing, I am actucally putting it right where the bumper end cap is. And I am putting a 1 inch steel rod that goes straight through the bumper and through the square tubing, so it swivels. How do you think i could toughen up the bumper? So i it could support the weight?

Tire carrier from the link looks sweet but it's ridiculously crooked. If your gonna spend all that time and money, why not do it right. Should have bought a level. LOL
X2 this. Its a great thought and i think it would look alot cleaner. Well worth the money. Its called the detours backbone system and uses the stock bumper

depending on the tire size you could get away with using the bumper but you are really really gonna have to beef it up from every angle, it would be worth it in the long run to just go ahead and make yours with a whole new bumper
this is my old one and how i mounted it, shortly after that i made a swing out and thats what i mounted it on

well i just did a search and couldnt find the pics of his i was lookin for but, what he did was after he got the old one out he opened up the holes that open up to the frame rails and then took a piece of 2x3 tube i think and cut part of the top off then drilled some holes in the other side to match up to the holes that are already in the frame rails, he then welded some nuts over them holes and that was the basis for the bumper mounts, i wish i would have done it that way
