Default A question for you welding/metal working fab experts.

I'm in the process of building a front bumper. I'm making the main tube out of 2" x 5" x 1/4" wall tube. My wife's uncle has a nice shop with lots of metal stock he called scrap laying around. I found a piece of cold rolled flat bar that I want to use as my bumper mounts. He didn't have anything like I wanted in regular hot rolled. My question is can I weld the hot rolled tube and cold rolled flat together without any major issues? I don't have much welding knowledge, but I do have help that does. Thank you for your help.

No problem. The only problem would be if it were dissimilar alloys, but there is welding rod for that too.

Thanks guys. Like I said, my knowledge is limited, but growing. I used to deliver it, but couldn't remember if there were problems joining the 2 together. I'm using the cold rolled as my frame mounts/shackle (clevis) mounts. I knew it would be strong. Hopefully, I'll be posting pics of a completed bumper soon.

I've got the only pics I have of my bumper right now up in my build thread. I'll make a dedicated bumper thread when I get further along on it.
