Need help with mounting x-fer case skid...
I made up a skid plate for the x-fer case. Im mounting it to the cross member and then side frame rail. My question is, how should mount it to the rail? Should I bolt thru? Use a riv-nut, say 1/2 or 3/8 size? What about self tappers?
EDITED: I was told to post pictures or GTFO. Here are the plans and pictures. If you make one post up!
here are the plans. Click to get high res picture. All I ask is if you make one, link back here to spread the word. Also you have to write mroneeyedboh on the side of the plate .... lolwut.
Here ya guys go
Then added gussets. Im not 100% finished yet, but will update.

No pictures really. Its not bolted up. I just fabbed it today. When its all said and done I will.
So with the welded tubes. Are you talking about like drilled out say 3/4" hold thru the frame and then welding in tubes so I dont crush the box frame?

haha okay. Well I still have the templates. I can give you them. It worked out halfway decently. I think Im going to rivnut it. Granted its not the best way, but JCR offroad says to do that and Rustys says to use self tappers.

We use riv-nuts because good chance you will be removing the tcase skid a time or two for repairs. If you use self tappers, good luck re-installing them after removing them the first time.

Not to get off track but the "riv-nuts" product sounds like the way to go.
Went to their site and they give a pretty good write up for it.

Id like to see what you fabbed up because im going to be doing the same pretty soon. Ive got a couple of other things to do before I do it, but I need to keep the ideas coming. I would like to do an engine/tranny/tcase skid all together if I can, but I need to spend some more time under my Jeep to get more familiar with the way its setup under there.
