So, I am a big guy, and I hate the heat. It sucks. So, after many weeks of hanging me head out the window begging for a refreshing cool breeze, I made a solution..

My homemade, totally portable air conditioner.

The fan is pink, only because the box said it was black. But basically a styrofoam cooler with the top modded to hold a fan and an outlet. You take 2 liter and little 24 oz bottles and freeze water in them, and then viola. The air coming out the end is as cool as out air conditioner set on 69*. I have an outlet that plugs into my cig lighter and use it for the fan. VERY CHEAP, VERY BENEFICIAL..until the ice melts lol.

I love it. Give it a little paint and your god to go.

I was just to eager to build it to return the fan for a diff color. I have considered painting it camo or something BA like that lol. It gets the job done. Cools the XJ, and can cool a small room. I like it.

Right on, I made something like that last summer for my house except I used an old volvo radiator, a 256 ghph fountain pump from HF and a bucket. threw a frame together to hold the radiator up and put a fan behind it. I put a valve at the bottom of the radiator, just cracked open to keep the radiator full of cold water. It'd blow air in the 30's for about a half hour with a block of ice from 711. Everything bought, it cost me $60, well worth it when your not used to 105 degree weather. I really like what you did!! hope you don't mind if I copy you!!

If you hook that system up to a NASCAR style "Cool Suit" you'll be even cooler!

That is actually a small AC system hahha. They are VERY effective and really low maintenance.

But great job on the cooler fan!!! thats awesome and using your noggin!!

Its simple, yet effective. Very cool idea.

Reminds me of my footballs team water thing. instead of using bottles they have this massive cooler with a garden hose input. goes through a ton of coiled copper tubing and out the other side through a output hose to the "drinking hoses". Fill it up with ice to the brim and bingo freezing cold water. Now what else could that be used for... :drink:
