Default My front bumper build

Well today it was nice and warm out, so i figured id get on to building the front bumper for the XJ. Built out of the same material as the back bumper for all you that remember my post of it. 5/16" thick 5 1/2" wide fork lift extenders.

I took 2 pieces of 1/2" and my a 1" thick clevis tab, might be a little overkill, but i build stuff so it doesnt have to be redone.

I added a 2" receiver adaptor just as i did on my back bumper as well.. remote winch, put it in the front or rear..

I used 1/2" plate for the bumper brackets, as you can see, plenty enough tie in to the unibody and also in with the steering box.

I notched and bent it where it works well with the contour of the front of the Jeep.

Looks weird flipped upside down, but each corner is bent back toward the jeep so it fits just right.

Its wild what you can accomplish in a day lol. I got all the gussetts and welds grinded and smooth down, ready for paint! Once i get it painted and on ill post up some more pics. Let me know what you guys think.

I'm pretty jealous of your welds. Mine are OK, but not that nice. Great job too!

Thanks alot guys! I taught myself how to weld, stuff like this i love doing. I been lookin around for a welding/fabricating job. Im no pro at it, though its like anything, the more you do it, the better you get. I been doin little home brew projects like this often over the years. If i had a plasma cutter, tube bender and a few more odd and in things theres no tellin what id have built with how my mind is always stur'n lol..

In the next few weeks I will post up pics of my front and rear bumpers, and an interior roof rack if I ever finish that. I just need to talk my sister into letting me use her camera.....

Nice work! Its going to look good in paint. Its got to be heavy. Not thats bad for a rear bumper.

...you could have used heavier material on the mounts

...seriously, I don't think you'll be bending it soon...

Thanks alot fella's. Im axious to throw the paint to it, but i still got the want to add the stinger to it so one last touch and it'll be complete. Oh and yea its heavy, i hadnt had a chance to weigh it yet but let me say this, i cant put it on by myself without assistance lol.
