Default my diy rear bumper

I built this bumper about 6 months ago but never was a member so never posted build. Had a slow day a work one day and these are the results. I first started off with some 2x4x3/16 rectangular steel. I cut that down to about 64". Next i cut the ends at a 45* angle. Then i cut the pointy ends staright down so i didnt build a dangerous bumper. After that was done i measured out where i wanted my d-link supports to go and cut them out. I cut both sides of the bumper so the support runs all the way threw and welded at both ends. Than i cut the supports out of 2x4 solid steel about 1" thick. Drilled the holes out using a bridgeport. Now my favorite part, time to weld. Supports were welded on both sides. I used some 1/8" sheet to weld the ends shut. Now it just needs some clean up and where done. I just started about 2 weeks ago trying to make my xj more offroad worthy so bumper was just installed about a week ago. Its bolted on right now but i need make a trip back to my shop to weld it on. Or if i find a welder closer to me. So thats my bumper let me know what ya think.

Looks clean man, normally I don't like the "Slim" bumper look but your pulled it off well, and it was obviously made well too, good job.

thanks guys. I made due with what scrap metal i had and that's what i came up with. Now i just need to build a tubular front bumper and ill be set. I was thinking the same thing about being to thin for my likings but im actually satisfied with how it looks.
