Good luck sir. Although you are mimicking and I'm not, you're not the only one taking that route at the moment. I think I'm about $60 into it and this is what I got thus far.
Before anyone tries to explain the logistics of fabrication I'm well aware of what is involved as well as the material costs. Call me cheap if you want, I have just not seen a meaningful payday in five years with current employer.

Good start! Cutting wheel threw 1/4" isn't to bad but how u gonna cut out them d ring tabs? That's like 5/8 or beter! And drilling it out wont b fun.where ya Frm? ill burn them out on my plasma table

I decided to incorporate the D-ring mounts into the bracket then I will cut some pieces to match the shape and weld them on both sides of the bracket d-ring for a total of 3/4" thick once it is all finished.
