Good luck sir. Although you are mimicking and I'm not, you're not the only one taking that route at the moment. I think I'm about $60 into it and this is what I got thus far.

I've seen them even higher than that. For the XJ I'd love a new set of bumpers. The initial investment kills that idea. I could see dropping up to 400 for front and rear delivered but any more is just excessive.

Before anyone tries to explain the logistics of fabrication I'm well aware of what is involved as well as the material costs. Call me cheap if you want, I have just not seen a meaningful payday in five years with current employer.

Hope to work in it this weekend. The goal is to get the mounting brackets cut, drilled and mounted then get the main bumper set and tack welded.

Unfortunately work interferes with my personal life

Actually I have a plan for that...

Either this: http://www.harborfreight.com/d-ring-...tch-66212.html

or this: http://www.trailswestonline.com/roug...nt-p-7263.html

Of course I won't be paying $89 for the d-ring mounts! I will make them myself.

I decided to incorporate the D-ring mounts into the bracket then I will cut some pieces to match the shape and weld them on both sides of the bracket d-ring for a total of 3/4" thick once it is all finished.
