Just put 55watt halogens in the taillight

Used as reverse lights and they are switched.

Seriously? I get the idea but thats not going to be water tight and your going to have condensation and all kinds of issues.

 

also watch the heat thems get rather warm

Looks good. I've been pondering the same idea to get more light while reversing and aux lighting for the rear. Don't think heat will be too much of an issue, because the halogen housing is made for that, and will take most of the heat anyways. Would still be a good idea to check on them during prolonged use though, till you know for sure the heat wont be an issue. It looks like you sealed them up good, so I doubt you will have moisture problems. Definitely need some action shots.

 

if its a backup light then heat shouldnt be an issue at all,unless you wheel backwards!! good idea anyhow!!

i have spots on the back of my other truck and soon on the xj i use them all the time for the most random stuff i'm just saying be careful with them. also use a lighted switch or a light on the dash to tell you they are on..i got pulled over with my rear spots on because o forgot about them

 

nice, but you will blind every driver approaching from the rear as you back out of every spot.
i would've just left in the weak lights, but use a set of spots on a switch for when you need them.

you should at least aim them down when you secure them into the tail light housings.

also, hope you used a relay. 55 watts is a lot of current.

 

i understand the concept, cuz whenver i back up at night...i cant see S@*t. lol
im thinking about mountion some on my rack and using a switch for whenever i need them.
but good work. if it works for you thats all that matters.

 

i just noticed they are switched. good deal.
but now you have to remember to switch them on whenever you back up.
that would get old quick if it's a daily driver.
maybe have one switched 55w on the passenger side and a stock one in the drivers side to at least let approaching drivers know you're backing up...
