I don't know if anyone has tried this, but I did. Started with a piece of 3/16"x 6"x 68" flat steel. I cut the rockers at the bottom of the door sill, left about 1/4" of body panel to weld to. Made other cut at pinch weld. Bent back pinch weld and bolted flat steel to it. Tack welded in a couple of spots. I did not seal up behind steel so I can power wash out and the mud won't sit in there and rot things. Also welded front fender to it. I don't see rocks hardly at all here in Michigan, but the high clearance is going to be nice. Also the durability will be nice. I have to tie it all into the frame yet, I'll post pics on th

these are on my list of projects to do. i like your start. are you going to add any tube to the ouside to help keep you off trees and what not? thats what im thinking of doing like you did but add the tube to is. great start cant wait to see you tie it to the frame rail.

I'll weld 2" sq. tube to frame, angle it same as boatside, weld other end to back and bottom of boat side. Hard to explain, I'll have pics next month if time permits. Want to get it done before snow flies.

you going to weld some plate to the frame rail first right? i sure hope so would hate to see all that work and not welded to something sturdy unlike the frame rail. looks like a good plan though very nice.

neat idea, but now i would think you would slide off a rock and the rock would to right into the door, since there is nothing protecting the door. I always like the idea of cutting out the rockers and putting a set of rock sliders in its place.

Living where I do, rocks are not really an issue. Breaking over hillclimbs is the worst problem I have. I mainly run 2 tracks, mud and sand. The only rocks here are not natural.

hmm break over angle is what your after then what is your plans for the belly side of the jeep? like the transfer case blow hanging down and the exhaust too. just a thought. still love the mini boat sides though.

ilike it. I also live in MI and don't need to worry about rocks. I was going to make new rockers out of aluminum to get by but I like what you did and may try to improve it. I will post pics when done. Thanks for the game plan.
