Nice Idea. I thought you were mating a full console and a ammo can. That would have been a sweet mod.
My xj was the plain jane model so i wasnt blessed with a console to work with. That would be a nice mod. Im trying to think how that would be done and still get people to realize that " hey thats an ammo can!" And now the gears start turning once again......

Now see why didnt i see that....Dam! If i relocated it or just removed it (cause i never use it anyway) i could use another ammo can and build the console around the shifter out of the top of the box......Hmmmmm!
Then i could take a piece of tin and make a cupholder/ switch panel between the 2 boxes......... (random thoughts inserted here)

That is hard on your trans, especially if parked at an angle. I prefer the double security of both the parking brake and trans.

On another note I like the console. Have an ammo can in my old Chevy Pickup. I had it mounted in the back and used it for chains/straps/etc.

Its pretty flat out here. i mean the most elevation we have out here is about the size of an anthill. Flatter than a lake on a calm day

VERY TRUE. Tried to park mine in 3rd gear thinking it was in first and found out first hand that that doesnt work too well. (jeep started rolling when i got out)

You could attach the arm pad/lid, to the lid of the ammo box... maybe

WOW! I love this idea, I got a couple of those from surplus, but I use them for bungees and ropes and other small stuff. Love this idea!

I wish i had a smaller one to replace the shifter console and make cupholders but all that is still going through the design phase. I ended up just making the lock kit for the box. they told me it would be a couple weeks for the one i ordered so i just canceled it. ill post a wright up on everything i have so far and ill just add to it to include the shifter console later
