Unhappy I need help from someone with "connections"

So I live in Alaska

Bought a Jeep Cherokee

Want to lift it real bad!!!

Looked on rustysoffroad.com and chose a nice 4.5" kit

Went through the process up to shipping and gave up! $386 for shipping man!!! Okay, I get it, we live in another country (B.S. - grrrr...)

Anyone out there selling a good kit or know how I can get a break on the lift kit price and then just pay for the ridiculous shipping rate???

Thanks for anyone's help, something is better than nothing!!

Give Rusty a call... he has issues with the shipping quotes that appear via his site.

Have you checked with the CF vendors?

This all started when I called a local place and they wanted $815 for a 3" Skyjacker kit and an extra $525 for install. $1,300 is just too much for me to bite off on for a 3" kit!!

See, I do not have the KNOW-HOW to do this myself, though I completely know how to do it and probably have 90% or 100% of the tools to do it, I just need some assistance. I know lame huh?

Is this a daily driver? If you have a few days to be walked through an install we have more than enough guys here with experience to help guide you through.

Have a friend who works for beer and pizza? Thats how we flatlanders get things done..

LOL, I wish I had wrench-friendly friends here, I just moved here and don't really know anyone yet.

I'd love to buy beer and pizza for some folks and get a lift installed

Need a vacation??? lmao

This is a daily driver, but the family has been doing fine for 3 months with the wife's Durango... The wife and kid just have to keep their butts at home more and spend less $$$$ lol, that's a good thing huh?

What do you think about this kit: http://tandjperformance.com/store/in...roducts_id=357

Its a Rubicom 3.5" Super-Flex. Thanks to y'all I checked the vendor area and found T&J's performance and they only wanted $104 for shipping, but they also have a redemption code that they offer too, but I don't know what that did to the total price because it did not subtract from the total.

I will check that link right now! Thank you good sir!!

IMO the rubicon express 3.5" kit is the best kit made for an XJ all around. It will end up being like 4.5" probably, most of them do. So thats a plus

If I didnt have priorities here in PA, I would be on a plane with 3 fly rods, gear, and a big smile on my face on my way out to your house to help you, then fly fish for 2-8 weeks

Seriously you can do it by your self. The main thing your gonna need is time. If you have another daily drive you can use, thats half the battle won. Next is going to be someplace to work that is flat and dry hopefully you have a garage that will help a ton. Next you need a good floor jack and at least 4 good jack stands if not more. Also a good socket set, breaker bar with cheater pipe, some pb blaster, angle grinder, maybe a sawzall, and other misc hand tools.

Take your time, dont guess at anything or force anything. your biggest problem is going to be rusted in bolts. For those soaking them in PB blaster for a couple days and maybe a torch will help.

I say research, give it a shot, ask questions on here, if you run into a problem dont freak out ask for help and I'm willing to bet your get more solutions that you know what to do with. You can do it.

I'm not saying bringing your truck to a local shop and supporting them isn;t a good thing, but if your broke and cheap like me, saving money on labor is a great feeling.
