you could weld some bolts to the bottom of the pieces so that they protrude through the mesh and some rubber weather stripping around the bottom edge, then use wing nuts to secure them in the winter or weather situations... I think these are the way to go. great job!

I watched the video and it seems pretty awesome. This is what I used.http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...tial/0/0?N=377 710 1657&Ne=712&Ntt=vents&Ntk=Primary Search&Ntx=modematchallpartial&Nao=0&Ns=0&keyword= vents&isLTokenURL=
true&storeNum=5002&subdeptNum=12&classNum=12408

All year round I can see heat billowing out but they have started to warp. I guess there not rated for high temps. I bought the white ones and painted 'em flat black. All I need now is bigger holes and a pic of how you mounted 'em and I'm going to have bigger vents.

I like how you mounted them straight on the jeep, instead of following the body lines on the center of the hood.

Very nice hood vents. I think I might try something like this, thanks for posting it.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but watch your tps and what not. I had some vents up there on my '00 and after about a years worth of water making its way down there, fried the tps several times over. It was a bad deal. However, it only went wrong while I was in school near Pittsburgh. <-------- LOTS OF RAIN ROUND THERE. I feel that had I changed hoods sooner rather than later I wouldn't be telling you this, so just take from my experience, Dielectric grease is a big help. I don't know man. I just hope you don't pop ans many sensors as I did. But it does look bad as hell. Your junk looks bad in general and these just added to its cause.

do yourself a huge favor and invest in some di-electric grease. keeps the water and crap out of your electrical connectors and saves a ton of hassle.

not to jack your thread but here is my take on your hood vents for a Grand Cherokee
there was supports underneath the hood which made putting the grill sheets in difficult

I used the same plans to do mine a couple weeks ago. Made plugs for bad weather out of the cut outs.

looks good guys... just to update my Jeep, still no drip pans and been in lots of rain with no problems at all. Haven't had a heat soak issue since doing this and the electric fan bypass switch...
