nope, Mine is a '99 sport 4 door and it's full. I'm willing to bet that it's just a rare manufacturer option that they put 20% of cars on the sales floor with. (I used to work at a Chevy dealer). Kind of like my 2002 Subaru WRX- mine was ordered specifically with the "spoiler delete package but body color side skirts, less than 1% of those cars came like that.

As far as racks are concerned has anyone tried blind riveting the top of the bottom rung with wire mesh? that may help to make it a full, usable basket. I have a mig welder so I think I will try the same construction tips mapped out on this thread but I will weld it together as well as add mesh on the bottom. Also, I will try spraying it with duplicolor truck bed coating- the same as my bumper, it matches the flares and factory plastics precisely. It may help to give that "factory if they had the ***** to do it" look, which is my mantra when doing any custom build.

Thanks, it's a work in progress- after a few paychecks I'll focus on making it role as good as it sits... trailer queens are the enemy and I'd like to focus more on the go than the show but axles, diffs and fab parts are expensive while snorkels, flares and spray paint are not.

Because when you roll it, it chips and flakes paint so i had to smooth it out and put the rhino liner and im doing the rhino liner down my rocker, just havent had time to finish it. And it does rust if it doesnt have paint on or some protectant on it.

It's true, even in CA. as far as the rolling is concerned you did a great job but (yep, there's a but) you may find that rolling on this truck to fit big tires and articulating suspension is not even close to enough. I did it to my AE86 but it's a race car- not much articulation. I've seen some great looking cut fenders that are super clean but you have to make that decision before you decide to buy flares because once they are cut aftermarket flares most likely won't fit your cut-out pattern. What I'm saying is that choice is permanent.

So im in the process of making one of these roof racks. Few questions id like to ask. How tall is everyone making these? Just dont wanna make them too tall and look dumb second how are u guys hookin it to the roof? saw one guy using just u bolts onto the factory roof rack but seems it will have too much bounce and ablity to flex too much and break the factory bars? Any help will be very thankfull

Thanks for the tips! im not goin to use the flat brackets to attach the top and bottom imma cut conduit to size and flatten the ends just to keep the whole tube look to it.
