Default homemade crossmember mount

hello, just figured i would post up a few pics of my crossmember mounts i made, the factory bolt and stud got stripped out so i came up with this idea, take angle iron and weld bolts to it and use that, worked out pretty well

not trying to make fun of your welding, but you shouldve at least cleaned the area first, if dirt and stuff get into your bead, itll make it a lot weaker... just saying.

yea i cleaned it up a little, i plan on going back and grinding it all down and laying some more beads, was pressed for time and needed to have it to drive so this will hold up for a while anyway. thanks

The 2 welds in the second pic look like they will hold. Not sure about the others. Not a bad idea if your bolts holes strip out though.

looks better then how mine is setup. my bolts from my drop bracket kit were so rusted and pressed with time to finish i basically did a reverse drop bracket with some 1.5in long steel washers. has held up fine for awhile now but its only held up with 3 bolts. dont worry it will get fixed in a few weeks since thats when im free. your welds look like they will hold for awhile atleast till you get time to finish it up

Creative idea/quick fix but, it would have been a lot easier to drill out and either retap or insert a helicoil into the factory weld nut.

thought about that too, or doing what most do and cut through the floor and just put a nut in the frame, however im thinking im going to make a heavier crossmember as mine is all bent up from abuse, something that covers more of the tranny pan and transfer case area as well.
