I mean, if he goes through a huge puddle its more filter area to suck water through. And those foam filters don't filter near as well as a paper filter. Thats how they flow more air.

2xs.There is an IAC that controls the air intake no matter how many filters you have.

I'm willing to bet he could use this for the rest of the life of the vehicle and it would maintain its structure.

This isn't a new thing. People have been adding PVC to the intake tube for "custom" intakes for quite a while.

Hey guys sorry I don't have pics (no working camera) but I made up some quick front swaybar disco's for under $10. All I did was drill holes in the lower mount and put some thick locking pins through them. Then for the upper I used a large wing nut and lock washer. Easy enough and it takes less me less then a minute to take them off/on.

Also PVC releases a corrosive gas when heated which I doubt you want being drawn into your motor!

I'll just say that I've played with fire/heating devices and PVC on more than one occasion. If someone's underhood/intake area temps are getting hot enough to melt or significantly soften PVC....it melting or whatnot is going to be the least of their problems. PVC is approved for use in construction for pressurized water lines. And rated for use up to like 220 degrees. I really doubt most anyone here gets underhood temps above 150-160(at the most) so PVC shouldn't be an issue for use as an intake either way.

X2...i mean hell, i use to make potato cannons out of PVC when i was younger and it stood up to that abuse without melting. so unless your running hot enough to already be melting all the plastic under your hood, you dont have anything to worry about.

Combine his idea with mine: for 2-4" of lift (I'm at 3 1/2), I used 3/8" x 2" allthread barrel connectors and 2" of 3/8" all thread to fab up sway bar link extentions...rethreaded the stock upper sway bar link end to accept 3/8 coarse thread, and red locktight to keep 'em tight... worked great! Cost for materials @ Ace was about 6 bucks...

I just wanted to say that orange beast of an XJ would look sick as a beach cruiser!!! leave it with a chopped top like in the last photo! through a mild cage on it and two surfboards on the roof!!! Props on the full cage look as well!!!
