I used cheap spray rubber paint from the store on my fenders. Only lasted a few months. I geuss it wasn't made to be exposed to the elements. A top coat of paint might have made it last longer.

I've had the rustoleum spray on bedliner on my rear bumper and bottom of my doors for about20k years now. The color faded a little bit but it is still holding strong. Last summer I chipped some off the bumper moving furniture though. I had a couch with a metal frame hanging out the back sitting on the bumper for a 30 minute drive on Pennsylvania pot hole ridden roads. It hasn't chipped or flaked away any more than what I did that day.
