It will be carpeted, I found a source for grey, tan, and black automotive carpet in my area and while it's not a perfect match for Jeep interior colors, it's close. I'm thinking about doing the back side in spray-on bedliner but I might just paint it black to save on cost. Plus, I'm not sure how the spray will adhere to the ULMDF. I'm going to have to test this one for a while after I finish it to figure out where the weak spots are and reengineer them before I pawn my poor design ideas off on someone who paid for them.
A 10" sub (or no sub at all) would have allowed for a LOT more storage space but I had a 12" and had to make that work. When I get around to building the one for the other side it will be ALL storage. I'm also going to try incorporating a retractable cargo cover that mounts between the two boxes and possibly a slide-out false floor. Stay tuned!

would def want a DIY kit for cargo on each side!!! making a slide in shelf halfway up inbetween the two would be easy, and id love that!!! could use two strips of mdf one top and bottom so it slides in and out but cant bounce up when you hit a bump.
It does make nasty dust but fortunately, most of the tools in my shop are connected to a dust collection system so it's not too bad.
I've made some progress on it, I'll upload pictures tonight.

X2. I think in most states those lights can easily get you ticket while driving. However, if the vehicle is parked or off-road it shouldn't be a problem.

I haven't had much time to work on my utility/speaker box but finally finished it up over the weekend. There were a few things that didn't work out as well as I'd hoped and others that were even better. One thing is for sure, I am not good at gluing carpet to things.

This is the complex part that goes around the fender and into the quarter panel well for the sub enclosure. It will eventually be glued and screwed to the main box.

The back... Glued, screwed, and painted-ish.

From the front

Carpeted and installed!

With the lid open

I thought this one was kind of cool because it's lit entirely by two 150W shop lights that are being powered by the outlet in my new utility box!
So, that's my project.
