I pulled one out of the junkyard last winter to throw in mine but it didn't fit. I just assumed after that that they were all plastic from 97 and up. That sucks, that would have probably fetched a pretty penny and made somebody's day. I just threw it out after I found out it didn't fit. =( what are normal 97+ headliners made out of?

Hmm. That partially just ruined my day. If i would have known that wasn't a plain old headliner I would have made it work for me or sold it to someone else. =( when i pulled my headliner it just shredded into a billion little fiberglass shards.

well they're not exactly the same, 97+ have the speaker holes made into the headliner instead of a sound bar

That i know is wrong. 97+ xjs have seperate plastic sound bars while 96 and older xjs have fiberglass soundbars. 97+ Sound bars are a little wider than 96 and older soundars but can be trimmed to fit rather easily. 97+ soundbars look like they are build in because they are under the fabric while 97 and older are seperately wrapped.

This is speaking from experience. I used to have two 97+ Xj soundbars in my rig.

Might do that with some 3M tape. Where do people get the legendary last-forever tape?
