Definitely don't want that inside your Jeep. You'll die from those fumes before you know it. A gas tank inside your Jeep on a hot summer day...lot's of smelly fumes and not so safe.

yea not on inside... bad fumes and higher explosion risk from static etc.

The fumes are FAR more flammable than the fuel itself!!

Ideally you want an older NATO style or Scepter fuel cannister, dont buy one of the newer CARB compliant cans. Quite frankly they suck..

A removal mount would be good, gives you options. Something like my buds..

Then just stand it upright in the back or cram it between the front and rear seat, and drive carefully so it doesnt tip over. Not need to make a mount for it this way.

If you plan of having the gas can with you for over an hour, defenitly make an exterior mount of some sort

Swiss jerry cans are a great way to keep extra fuel. I bought 2 of them last summer, and they work great. I put them up on my roof rack, grab my ball siphon from Harbor Freight Tools ($3.99), run it down into the gas tank, and viola, it works like a champ. I can usually do it without even getting gas on my hands!! I did the funnel thing, with regular gas cans, and that is not awesome!! LOL!! Gas, even in storage, will generate fumes/pressure, and even more so while being jostled about(driving). So, with all of the risks, IMHO, the fuel should be outside of the vehicle. Gasoline is far too volatile to store inside the cabin with you. This is just my $.02 worth, so take of it what you will...

good thing i posted this, the whole 'inside the car' idea is out the window. i guess i'm going to make some type of mount for the back of my hatch. on the outside. maybe i'll mount it on my roof rack if i think up a way to streamline it

I just realized this thread prob belongs in the FAB section.. so here is my main idea so far.

shiny new gas can.

sweet looking xj.

sweet looking xj + shiny new gas can = badassness

i think it'll work. it doesnt block the lights any and the hatch should be more than strong enough to hold the can while full. i dont wanna be another shmo with a can on his roof rack
