I put one on the 4wd lever of my tj.. cause it usually meant something was going to break in 4lo a.k.a. grenaded

Here's mine I did a while back. I drilled a hole straight through the top and fit a large nail through it so that the flat end was resting on the white piece and there is about an inch of the nail coming from the top. Simply pull the lever and it clicks to shift. Turned out great!

what happens when you pull the pin, does the whole handle assembly fly apart?

Nope, It it explodes like a D30.....its a Jeep thing...LOL

No, you bend it so the pin won't come out. But if you do pull it the lever comes off.
