Default got a used welder / frame stiffeners

Howdy folks,

I was recently gifted a Lincoln SP135 - Plus mig welder. I have a 95 2dr XJ and a full set of frame stiffeners. The big question is, will this welder do the job of sticking these stiffeners to my unibody? I have plenty of material to practice with to get my bearings set, I just dont wana waste my time and money if its not feasable.

Thanbks Cherokee Forum Folks!

Practice is key. Surface prep is mandatory. Get after it bro!

Yes you will be fine to do stiffeners with that welder. It will be underpowered to burn .188" to .188" material with full penetration, but the unibody rails are so thin that it will be just fine.

Honest question, was that welder in a flood? You might want to pull the covers off and look at the condition of the internals.

No flood, it’s in the high desert, been sitting in a shed for a couple years, I’ll need to clean it up but it should work ok.

its my first welder so the learning curve is real, but I can do anything if I put my mind to it.

once I get it brought over here, I’ll get some pics.
