i agree with this guy i consider myself a desent fab person and when i know i can do better it pisses me off when something turns out like crap. if it doesnt suit me then i will do what i can to fix it. its all about how much dedication u have towards urself and i think thats the why things turn out good or bad

Quote: You have a chopped 2dr cherokee and no uni-body bracing that I can see. no roll cage or anything to keep the Jeep from pulling a taco and folding in half length wise
lol... nope... the square tube i got running down the sides help alot but that wasnt my intension for them anyway... before i cut it up i read several write ups on it and most didnt have any kind of frame support or anything... and also read several write ups on the integrity of the jeep after they go topless and found most people have been wheeling around (rock crawling and trail riding) without a single person saying they had problems... they all said there XJs were still as sound as before... mines not lifted... heck since the d44 swap i dont even have matching gears... so right now it stays on the street... so i have 0 concern other then a rollover on the street with the doors off... that would probly hurt... if you notice in the pic my rear bumpers all ugly (needs sandblast and paint) and not even bolted in... my front bumpers done... just need rock sliders and then ill start on a cage of some sort... but like i said i havent read anywhere where someone actually had problems with this taco effect your talking about... but i am working on strengthening just for the simple fact that all XJ's could use it... and i dont wanna flip and feel it later... lol... not saying that what your talking about wont happen though... but i think it would take a great bit to make it...

Quote: Yeah... you should shut up... nobody cares if it looks pretty... with your "cadillac" tail lights... now go bash them on a rock... and start over... the rest of us will just go stick a new tail light in... all that work and you forgot the pink bow...

Im sorry but i cant stand it when people talk up there rigs and how great they are... and then to talk up the pretty looks... give me a break...
well thats great. i wasnt talking about how great my rig is i was simply saying that i dont think chopped cherokees are cool unless they are finished right. sorry i am not praising this chop like everyone else. i was trying to give him some constructive criticism so chill.

i thought chops were all about looks???? his must certainly be because i see no purpose for it. he lost his rear cargo space, lost rigidity, and now it looks hack. i would find a tailgate off something, rig that in there and go with whatever tail lights fit.

caddy tail lights fit perfect and they are surrounded by metal so when they do get bashed into a rock/tree the light wont break i can just pull the dent out. and they can be had at the u-pull-its for like 5 bucks a piece.

but what would i know about wheeling my rig never sees the dirt

just remember next time you bash on someones "pretty" rig that its probably pretty because they work hard on it and not because they are afraid to use it.

I have a buddy who chopped the back off his 4dr cherokee. doesnt have any bracing and the unibody is noticably tweaked.

hmm... the 4 door is a bit longer but had less roof to cut off so i dunno... i read alot on it before i did it... but theres not really many places to hard core wheel down here so i think ill be fine till i build a cage later on... but had to do bumpers and rock sliders first for my foundation... i may do stiffners when i start building the long arms so i can make sure everything will line up right... they dont cost that much anyway... does he know of anything he did to make it do that?

Well I have to say I like both chopped Cherokee's I have seen in this post. Just 2 different people with different opinions. I admire anyone who has the skill to chop or mod something and make it look a little different from the rest. I have never done anything like this at all but if I did I think just to have peace of mind after chopping it with it being a unibody I would do some kind of support tube. Some have bent em, some have not but I would rather go ahead and toss some tube in to be a little more sure.

Not bashing anyone's rig, fab skills, or choices how to cut and/or mod it

Either way cool chops!

Well, the main place we go wheeling is probably the equivalent of class 3 or 4 trails. Its not rocks, but lots of mud and ruts. The last time I went out I ended up high-centering on my axles in a rut and had to be winched out

You can't climb a curb? That doens't seem right, even in 2wd I can climb a curb no prob. If I put it in 4wd it'll climb alot more than a curb with no issues

I only have 31s too and I can climb a curb in 2x4. 4x4 just makes it too easy
