Alright so I've cut my flares for larger tires and now... I am moving to California so they have fender laws ... and I need fenders. I've toy'd with several versions and finally settled down with the one that makes most sense - ones that I can repair if they break and not cost an arm and a leg! So I started fabbing up some metal Fenders that will cover the tires - Cali law is that all the tread must be covered. Here is what I have so far!

This was the original thought. build an outside frame and then somehow connect it to the body. The outside frame took FOREVER to get the angles down and welded. SCRATCH

Here is the fiberglass version. Not too cost effective and would be prone to easy breakage! Plus this one portion of the job took all day to carve out and make fit! SCRATCH

Then it hit me... Start from the inside out and build the frame. Started with 3/4 inch angle iron to the body... Rivoted vs welding - Quicker install and not too permanent as welding is for easy repair.

Here is a built frame.

Frames all around are built - just waiting to be sheeted! More Pics in my profile and new updates real soon!

Looks good. I wanna do something similar to keep the mud from flying all over my windows. Btw, im in California and the cops arent thaaaaat strict about it. My tires stick out pretty far and there are people way worse than me getting away with it too. Ive had my jeep set up the way it is for 3 years and never heard complaints about the tires.

Project Update!
Here are some almost done pics!

Ran out of brown primer - had to use the black

The bottom of the fenders are missing because I had a 4 X 4 sheet metal and the fenders were 51" long. I'll have to scab in on all of them!

More to come later as I finish them up!
