Default Door Pockets?

I think fab is the place to post this, just wondering if anyone has any ideas on a side pocket on a 97+ door, seems to be plenty of clearance for it, thinking of kinda putting it over the uh... style slits in the doors, next to the speaker, almost begging to have a pocket there-

I'm thinking maybe even just some rubber or something, just to hold small items.

that looks almost exactually like my like door panel, except I have the door pockets, the screws strip out really easy and they don't hold much more then a map and candy wrappers.

They sell aftermarket netting sort of things that you can screw or rivet into your door panels. Walmart I think has these. Nicer than the stock tiny little slots that you normally get on your XJ anyway.

I have no know-how, just thinking up something, most I've ever fabbed was a flag pole from a broom stick, and that was just tape and zip-ties... flag shop wanted $50 for a proper flag-pole and I needed it the next day... this just seems pretty simple to me, cloth or leather or something, cut it to fit, screw it on... but I don't want it to look like crap, and I don't want it to wear out quick either, any ideas? Just need to hold simple stuff, like DVD's, tired of searching under the seat every time I rent something... even if I drive like a granny they find a way to fall off the seat, and everyone complains when I ask them to just hold it for the entire 5 minutes it takes to get home... biggest thing it'd hold is maybe a water bottle. Although the net sounds like a good idea, might go check that out.

The nets would probably work great for that kind of stuff and would install easily I would think.

If you can go to a junk yard, look around there and find somthing to swap over. older xj's had a pocket there and you could probly get something to work that way. you could also cut the side of a plastic tote and use some sort of bracket to afix it to the door.

Mid to late 80s extra cab rangers have net pockets on the back wall of the cab. They're the right size to fit on the xj door panel. They look like what you're talking about.

I just got a set of universal door pockets from jc Whitney. 13 bucks I think. I will mount them in the next couple of days and post pics.

Pull the netting from a mid 90's ranger/mazda b-series extended cab. Fit's perfectly. Use some self taps to hold it on.

Did it to the driver's door as well. I've had them for almost a year now and they haven't loosened up at all.
