Default Custom Rear Seat

When I bought my Jeep it didn’t have a rear seat and I often have to take my friends wheeling so I really needed a seat so I went looking and I found a TJ Rear folding seat. To make it fit I had to make custom brackets to hold the seat with some 90 degree steel, a 4ft steel rod, and some dead bolts. This is what I came up with…

If you have any recommendations for a bed liner for the back please let me know!

x2,

but I really like that, folds up and out of the way like the rear seat in my montero did...

only thing I would do is create something over the storage wells under the seat so that when you fold the seat up you have a flat floor for better cargo stowage

why go through all that trouble when you could have just put a factory one in and they fold up less bulky?

Well I wanted to be able to pull the seat out and use it as a chair and the TJ seat being smalleer this is much easier for say a camp trip like I have it below(guy sleeping on it)... And also I have some things Im going to do on the sides that a regular seat wouldnt allow me to do also at the time the cheapest XJ rear seat I could find (in decent shape) was more that $150 or 100miles away.

and yes someone is sleeping on the top of the jeep....

Makes sense, when I had my scrambled before I had kids that was the primary use of the rear seat, always had my camping chair with me

sadly no my ex destroyed my computer that most the pics of it were on, i got some pics of it in albums but no scanner. which sucks cause i loved that jeep. looking for another one now to build as an expo/ cruisin rig.

but mine was an 83 with a 60 and 14b full cage. other than that it was an average scrambler laredo. i sold it 10 yrs ago to build the XJ cause i had 3 kids and got tired of redoing the roll cage to fit the kids in LOL
