Default Custom Dash Idea!

So I have a 1996 Classic XJ and I want to remove the entire dashboard and move the wiring cluster into a more easy to access and manage location somewhere along the firewall, also probably incorporate different gages for the speed and such... >.> I have this love for the digital readouts newer cars give you for mph, but had no idea how I would make that work in my XJ.

Anyways, I'm thinking extremely minimal dash should remain, I will rework the AC vent to just blow towards myself and my passenger front seat. I'm not too sure how the glovebox... AKA insurance info holder will be worked.

Anyone have a custom dash, so I can get some ideas to work off of?

Haven't done anything like this myself but I know that they make digital gauge packages for the gm f bodies. You may be able to incorporate that.

I have yet to set aside enough time to tear apart my dashboard, and I haven't found any OEM instrument clusters that I want to use. I might have to wait to do any tearing and modding until I get my truck in November... Booooooo... waiting... :P

read this post from pirate he has a nice custom dash im using some of his ideas for mine

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=557715

as far as a digital set of gauges your probably better off going with an after market set rather then finding something out of another car

example

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...ier=918619_0_0_

not my top pick of gauges but its digital readout im sure you can find others
