so got to put in a little work on my hood today, im pretty excited to get it done, this is what i finished today. wont be able to work on it till monday, but its gonna be nice to drive away in this after my wedding on saturday lol
got some tacks in to see how it would sit, and give me some wiggle room

after i liked where it sat, i started spot welding it

on the back, im gonna eventually add some mesh to keep stuff out.

after i got it to where i like it, it was time to start welding..didnt quite finish cuz i ran out of time in class, so i just threw it on the jeep..

heat / wire speed do you plan to weld it at, I'd be worried about warping.
I've been juggling this idea for my hot rod s10 for a while but never had time to tackle it, now I can see how it turns out from you doing it, then decide if I still want too lol
thanks

i dont remember the wire speed, but the heat, the welder i was using today has i think 5-6 different settings, since i was just tacking, or stitch welding i had it on the seconds heat setting, Originally Posted by The Blacksmith

by the way, i got stuck with the crappy welder today lol i ran a couple of welds with the other one which has a heat setting according to the gauge of metal and it worked way better.. but as long as you take your time and let it cool down enough after small stitch welds you should be fine, im approximately 50 percent done welding, and i didnt notice any warping..
just take your time and let it cool..and you should be good

I've wanted to try something like this, it's sweet. I just don't trust my welding skills on stuff this thin. I always ruin it.
