anyone ever done a 2 door convertible style chop? not with a folding roof, but chopped to just windshield, or even another lower, more raked, windshield swapped?

was i in anyway disrespectful, or tell you how to recieve it? nope...just letting everyone, not just you, know my experiences. calm down a little man...its just the internet

i didnt tell you how to recieve it. i said how it should have been said.

you dont have to cage it to chop the top off. but its sure a good idea being that you are compromising the structure of the unibody.

sorry to offend you.

heres my personal expirience with my chopped non caged (yet) xj. I have no frame stiffeners or cage on it now, and I wheel the **** out of my rig every weekend, its gotten airborn more then once and gets flexed and twisted like no other. I, as of now, have no damage to my unibody in anyway shape or form, but I kind of think thats because mine is fully enclosed which would reinstate some of its rigidity. Now im not saying it wont get damaged down the road, but I am going to be doing a int/exo hybrid type cage when I get the time and money to do so, but first is boatsides haha

I have a chopped XJ, and it is caged. Not sure what you all consider wheeling the **** out of your rig, But my body still flexes with my cage.

But the way I look at it.. XJ are a dime a dozen.. parts are transferable. The unit body will crack and seperate with out some work though. My roof seam is opening up on my rig even with a cage.

Here is mine. I welded tubing behind my roof to my tree sliders. Then tubing down to my rear 1/4s to strengthen it back up. A full cage is in the works.
