I like the idea of the 44 front and the 9 inch rear. Yeah I want to keep the coils. Gig much mid is involved or will it fit right up? Probably no bigger than 35" tires. And probably a little of both ramrodding and easy trailing. Ice been doing a lot of research but since this is a WJ my questions are not answered by google. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks. I'll keep posting as I complete the job. Going to work on it right now.

Yes there is quite a bit of fab involved. No it won't bolt right in! I agree that a 44/9"full width would be an awesome combo!

Personally I would do the TNT truss. Very easy to set up.. yeah kinda pricey, but it is idiot proof to set up. On the rear I would see if Artec makes one for the 9" I know they make a kick a$$ truss for the 8.8.


The 44/9 is the setup I am running in my xj. As for the 79 bronco axles.. the front isnt the best choice unless you plan on running radias arms. they have the cast wedges which are hollow and dont have tube going all the way through them.

very true on all acounts ballistics shipping/customer service sucks, but there products rock!

on the '78-79 D44 I didnt know that the tubes didnt run threw the cast wedges... what D44 would match the width of the 9" out of those broncos? (was looking to do that swap cause the 9", from what I've been told is only about a half inch off from the XJ leaf mounts.)

 

I had issue with Ballistics CS in 06 and have never used them again. I ordered parts from Ruffstuff last yr... took 3 weeks before I cancelled the order, parts were at the machinists that long. SO I dont use them anymore either.

I like Barnes4WD.COM, He is on the same side of the country as I am, and eveytime I have ordered I have had the parts in 48hrs.

As for the front axle. The 78-79 f150/bronco axles have the cast wedges. You want either a pre 77 axle, or a f250 set of axles. You can always use the 78-79 axle just make sure to weld the cast to the tubes, and truss the axle.
