Do you mean the round tubing undernieth? im cheap and instead of buying metal i use what i have. just so happened i had some 2x4 3/16s. i started build and soon relized it looked retarded small. i cut the sides at an angle, flipped the cutoof piece around and re welded it. threw the tube in as filler
mounting brackes are 1/4 with some 1/4 45 degree gusetry. right now i have the factory tow hook plates modified to except 1/2 grade 8 hard ware. so it ties back into the unibody using the stock hook plates. I didnt tie all the way back with the bumper because eventually i am going to plate entire unibody rails with 3/16s. I think the three 1/2 grade 8 bolts will work for now.

I like the tube work on the top of the bumper as well. I think it looks better with the cut and welded sharp bends then the rounded bends from a tube bender. The sharp bends seem to fit the XJ a little better.
Nice work.

Sick bumper! But what ya gonna do bout front license plate? I'm assuming you have to have one in the state you live in...might I suggest building a removable bracket for your receiver for it?
